This study focuses on extracurricular activities in the field of career guidance and aims to analyse this kind of activities within five Romanian universities. The students' opinion but also their involvement in such activities are captured. The research was conducted by means of the questionnaire method where 728 students of the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu, Politehnica University Timișoara, Babeș Bolyai University Cluj, Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Politehnica University Bucharest were questioned. This study highlights specific problems and potential improvements related to career guidance extracurricular activities.

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of the type of self-concept (academic and general) and extracurricular activities on academic performance among primary school students (N = 1708), and to determine the differences of this relationship in terms of gender. We used a cluster sampling stratified into two stages and gave standardized achievement tests and ad-hoc instrument designed for academic and general self-concept and extracurricular activities. The results showed that respondents who engaged in academic extracurricular activities such as language and computer performed better in all academic subjects. A new child-centered approach to the organization of extra-curricular activities in Finnish schools

Extracurricular activities are currently included in Finnish school legislation, but their organization is fragmented. History: Club activities at school led by teachers have been arranged since 1947 on extra pay, but their amount and content have depended on available funding and often on teachers’ willingness to lead club activities. Schools have also had a possibility to use cultural or sport operators. However, system has preferred teacher-led club activities.
